The San Jose Sharks are looking good after the first three games of their series with the Red Wings.
One year ago, the Sharks were playing at Detroit and won an overtime thriller to go up 3-0. It seems as if history is repeating itself. The Sharks took a 3-0 series lead after a gutsy 4-3 overtime win Wednesday night. Devin Setoguchi scored a hat trick and the winning goal in overtime, as he shot a beautiful top-self laser right in the back of the net. The Red Wings were dominating the game the entire game, but somehow the Sharks fought their way back. Detroit scored late in the 2nd period, and held on to their lead for most of the third period. With less than 4 minutes remaining in the game, Setoguchi scored his second goal of the game on a power play to tie it 3-3. The game was sent to overtime. The Red Wings dominated play in overtime, but the sharks and goalie Niemi thwarted a tough Detroit offense, and even fended off a power play. On a quick break and Detroit line change, Sharks captain Joe Thornton made a beautiful move pass a defender and spun around and found Setoguchi about 15 feet away from the net. Setoguchi put the puck in the top shelf passed goalie Howard, for the Sharks unlikely win.
The Sharks have a nice 3-0 lead heading into the fourth game at Detroit. If this is the Sharks team I believe it to be, they will smell blood in the water and finish off their prey on Friday night.
Next Game: SJ Sharks @ Detroit Red Wings, Friday the 6th - 7:00pm EST. Sharks lead series 3-0.
